Peter Martin

Peter has been committed throughout his career to public service having worked for a number of Government departments. He worked as policy lead for mental health services in the Welsh Government from 2003 to 2011 during which time he was responsible for overseeing delivery of the first ever all Wales mental health strategy and its then related National Service Framework. He was also responsible for developing and rolling out a number of other strategic initiatives including  'Stronger in Partnership 2', the original strategy for meaningfully and genuinely involving and engaging service users and carers in the planning, delivery and evaluation of mental health services across Wales. Peter left Welsh Government to work in the mental health Third Sector in 2011, initially working as a senior policy adviser for Hafal, a Welsh mental health charity that supports and campaigns for people living with severe and enduring mental illness. He currently works for the mental health charity Mind on a project relating to crisis care that involves collaboration between a range of partners including health services, the Police, local authorities, the third sector, Welsh government and others centering on delivery of the Crisis Care Concordat in Wales. Outside of work Peter's main interests are anything to do with ancient Egypt, single malt whiskey and Arsenal Football Club.
